Located inside the Rift Valley, the town is growing fast due to location at the railway and motorway connecting Addis Ababa with the harbour Djibouti. Drinking water for half million inhabitants is taken from the 15 km away river Awash, by treatment plant and pumped to the town. Now the plant needed upgrade to match the expanding population. <!--more-->In year 2014 MENA-Water won the contract to rehabilitate and upgrade the complete plant.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float: right; margin-left: 20px;\" src=\"https:\/\/mena-water.eu\/pictures\/Adama_oromia.jpg\" alt=\"Adama Water Plant\" \/><br \/>\nThis comprised the intake, new pre-treatment, clarifier, sand filter and new storage tank with high pressure pump station. Finally the system upgrade from 24 480 to <strong>47 000 m\u00b3\/day<\/strong> was done during operating the plant.
