Sludge Treatment

MENA-Water offers the complete program for sludge treatment with thickening, dewatering and sludge drying.

For sludge dewatering, we offer our Container with belt filter press sludge treatment plant. The equipment is supplied as a prefabricated container plant, and can be erected on site in a short time with a minimum of construction work. At very short implementation time, this system is very cost effective.

Belt Filter Press

The belt filter press is composed of two units, the pre-thickener and the sludge press. The pre-thickener performs the initial solid/liquid separation stage, taking sludge solids concentration from 0.5-3% up to 5-15%.

The dewatering in the press occurs firstly in the low pressure zone, then in the wedge zone and finally in the high pressure zone where the filter cake is compressed between the perforated cylinder cloth and the main cloth. The discharged sludge cake can reach dry solid contents variable from of 18 to 30% depending on the sewage sludge.

The belt press can be used for mixed fiber, biological, chemical sludge.

Bag Dryer

The package plant is completely automatic, with all functions, including sludge conditioning, bag filling and draining cycles, controlled by an integral control panel. The fully packaged design of this machine provides a simple and rapid installation, which is of benefit to the installer and end-user.

The bag also acts as a strong container for the transport of the dehydrated sludge to the disposal point.

Screw Drain Thickener

Sludge Thickeners are widely used in many wastewater and water treatment plants. They are generally placed before filter presses, belt presses and centrifuges to achieve higher sludge concentration before final dewatering. Sludge thickeners are also used to increase the sludge concentration before biogas reactors, thus enabling the use of smaller biogas reactors.

Other applications are to reduce the volume of sludge before being pumped into drying beds. This equipment can also be used to remove coarse material such as fibers in the textile Industry.

Polymer Preparation

The polymer preparation units are used to automatically prepare polymer solutions which are used as coagulants for the suspended particles in the effluents treated in the waste water treatment plants. Polymer addition is used in the treatment of water both in the primary clarification-flocculation phase and in the last sludge dehydration phase.

Centrifuge

Centrifuges are designed to separate solids from sludge mixtures with continuous and space-saving dewatering systems combined with high efficiency. The revolving parts of the centrifuge, the drum and scroll, are driven by electric motors that are controlled by two inverters and managed by means of software, running on a PLC. This configuration enables to automatically and continuously manage and adjust the differential speed of the drum-scroll according to the incoming flow, besides guaranteeing the output of a consistent percentage of dry solid and significant energy savings.

Sludge Drying

The process is specially developed for drying sewage sludge - the drying air is recirculated in a closed loop i.e. no odorous drying air is released to ambient. The belt dryer is a convective dryer and is very safe. Drying air is slowly removing the moisture from the sludge particles and there is no mechanical treatment of the sludge - it is therefore a dust free method of drying.

Silo Components

Silo Plants manage the storage and discharging of sludge for the transport to treatment plants or disposal. On bottom of each silo there is an hydraulic driven sliding frame to guarantee a continuous discharge.
